Q: What's your name?
A: Weird Deer. They/them.
Q: What do you make your drawings with?
A: Almost always Sharpie permanent markers, fine or ultra fine tip.
Q: Why Sharpie? Have you tried prisma color / copic / alcohol based / another brand?
A: Because I can afford them and the colors pop. I'd love to work with those other brands if someone would like to gift me a set.
Q: I like this print, but do you have it in a different size?
A: All of my prints are the size of the original drawing. I don't have a scanner so all my prints are essentially copies made directly from the original. So, no.
Q: Are you high?
A: No.
Q: How long does it take to make one of your drawings?
A: Depends on complexity. Anywhere from 5 to 25 hours. The newer ones have taken more like 20 hours.
Q: What's your process? How do you start?
A: With feelings. Usually there's an intense build-up of emotion in my body and I pair that with a color, or colors that match the feeling. I make a mark that feels like release and I follow that. I don't plan or have an image in mind ahead of time, it's more like an archeological dig and the outcome is a surprise to me.
Q: How long have you been drawing?
A: I've always been making art but I made it my central focus in 2019 and started selling my work in the summer of 2020.
